Privacy Policy

Little Beaver has no account, no sign-in and no servers. Everything you type into it is stored on your phone and nowhere else. We cannot see it, because there is nowhere for it to go.
The short version. We collect nothing. The app contains no code that connects to the internet at all — no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, no cloud backup, no accounts. Your information leaves your phone only when you choose to send it somewhere yourself, and then it goes where you send it, not to us.
Who we are
Little Beaver is made by BeaverArk. You can reach us at hello@beaverark.com. This policy covers the Little Beaver iOS app. Our other apps and this website have their own policies.
What the app stores, and where
Everything you enter is written to a database file inside the app's own private storage on your device, together with a folder for any photographs and voice recordings you add. That includes:
- profiles you create — a name or nickname, a due date or date of birth, and optionally a sex and birth measurements;
- anything you log — feeds, sleep, nappies, growth measurements, vaccines, milestones, temperatures, symptoms, medicines and doses, blood sugar readings, memories, appointments and calendar events;
- notes you write about yourself, including how you are feeling and your own appointments;
- photographs you attach to a milestone or a memory, and voice recordings you make for the soothing player;
- your settings — units, clock format, theme, reminder times and which optional modules you have switched on.
None of it is transmitted anywhere. There is no BeaverArk server holding a copy, because there is no BeaverArk server.
What we collect about you
Nothing. We do not collect, receive, store, sell, share or analyse any personal information through this app. We do not know how many times you open it, which screens you use, or whether you are using it at all.
The app contains no third-party software development kits of any kind: no advertising networks, no analytics providers, no attribution or measurement tools, no crash reporters, no social media integrations.
Permissions the app asks for
Notifications
Used to remind you about appointments, vaccine windows, medicine doses, blood sugar testing times and any reminders you set. Every one is scheduled by your phone, on your phone. There are no push notifications, so nothing is sent from anywhere. You can turn them off at any time in the app or in your phone's settings.
Microphone
Only when you choose to record your own voice for the soothing player. The recording is saved as a file on your phone, played back by the app, and deleted when you delete it. It is never uploaded, never processed by anyone, and never leaves the device.
Calendar
Only used when you tap “Add to phone calendar” on an appointment. The app hands a single event to your phone's own calendar app. Please note: if the calendar you add it to is an iCloud, Google or work account, that event will sync wherever your calendar syncs — that is your calendar's configuration, not something the app does.
Photographs
When you attach a photo, iOS shows its own picker and passes the app only the image you chose. The app never receives access to your photo library. The chosen image is copied into the app's own storage and stays there.
The only ways information leaves your phone
All three are things you do deliberately, and in each case you choose the destination:
- A backup. “Export backup” makes a single zip file containing your entries, settings, photographs and recordings, and hands it to the iOS share sheet. Where it goes — Files, iCloud Drive, an email to yourself — is your choice. We never receive it.
- A monthly report or keepsake book. Both are PDFs rendered on your phone and shared the same way.
- An event added to your phone's calendar, as described above.
If you never tap those buttons, nothing ever leaves.
Information about your child
The app is for parents and carers, not for children, and it is not directed at children. Anything recorded about a child is entered by you, held only on your device, and controlled entirely by you. We never receive it, so we cannot disclose it, lose it, or be compelled to hand it over.
Your rights, and how to exercise them
Data protection law — the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR and similar rules elsewhere — gives you rights over personal information that an organisation holds about you: to see it, correct it, delete it, or take it somewhere else. Because BeaverArk does not hold any of your information, there is nothing for us to give you, correct or delete. Instead:
- To see or correct anything: it is all in the app, and every entry can be edited.
- To take it with you: More → Backup & restore → Export backup gives you the lot in one file, in an open format.
- To delete everything: More → Backup & restore → Delete all data removes every profile, log, photograph and reminder from the phone. Deleting the app does the same.
If you believe we have handled personal data wrongly, you can complain to your data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Purchases
If you buy the app or anything inside it, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple. Apple receives your payment details under its own privacy policy; we never see them. We receive only anonymous sales totals from Apple, which do not identify anybody.
Health information
Some of what you record — temperatures, symptoms, medicines, blood sugar readings, growth measurements — is health information about you or your child, and we have treated it accordingly: it is stored on your device only, it is never transmitted, and no part of it is used for any purpose other than showing it back to you.
Little Beaver is a tracking and organising tool. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose, and it is not a substitute for advice from a doctor, midwife, health visitor or paediatrician.
About this website
beaverark.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics: we do not know who visits or what they read. The pages load their typeface from Google Fonts and their stylesheet from jsDelivr, which means your browser makes a request to those two services and they see your IP address, as they would on most of the web. That is the only third party involved anywhere in BeaverArk.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and change the date at the top before that version is released. The promise at the heart of it — no accounts, no servers, nothing collected — is the reason the app exists, and is not something we intend to trade away.
